I am less enthusiastic than most about compact fluorescent bulbs. This is due to the fact that the ones currently available contain significant amounts of mercury. If one of these bulbs should break inside of a person’s home, it could cause a challenging disposal situation. It is my belief that the technology should progress to a point at which the mercury levels are low or nonexistent before people changeover their entire homes. Another consideration is that as these bulbs burn out, they will most likely be thrown away as though they are normal rubbish and landfills will have incredibly high levels of mercury in their soil as a result.

Definetly, a long term investing in property is an "evergreen" more or less over the years. Yes, USA market just faced an awful experience, which caused an important loss for many investors. But as we all know, situation was caused by an irrational politics of the FED, (to be correct by an intention to increase consumption after 9/11, without thinking over the consequences). Another factor that may globaly affect a proprety costs is a (speculative) house flipping. To respond your question, I wouldn't be affraid to invest in proprety, like I'm a pro-long term investments, but what is important - a strict connection with rationality and good research on the market.
